Rev.Media Club Workshop featuring Brette Sims of Stuk Designs

  • Scrap & Sip 3292 22nd Street San Francisco, CA, 94110 United States (map)

Rev.Media Club is similar to a book club, while expanding its focus to include books, music, movies, poems, visual art, podcasts, zines, etc. highlighting journeys of radical transformation for liberation. We collaborate with different artists, librarians, educators, organizers, healers, and local changemakers to offer intimate workshops at local community-run spaces to share our journeys of transformation that sparked liberation - so together, we can activate that flame within you!

The aim of Rev.Media Club is to cultivate the following capacity-building skills:

  • Spark your radical imagination to envision and create different possibilities

  • Activate your own artistic creative expression to communicate what you envision

  • Integrate a critical analysis into your vision from revolutionary media you engage with

  • Cultivate connections and relationships through shared community-engaged activities

  • Prioritize time and energy towards collective joy and play

So if you and your homies have been wanting to learn and unlearn together, and are seeking a liberatory community of practice who wants to nerd out, create, and integrate Rev.Media, we hope you can join our next workshop!

Our first Rev.Media Club is a collaboration with Stuk Designs at Scrap&Sip - a creative nook in the heart of SF Mission district which offers a collection of unique crafting goodies and interactive events/workshops. Because this is an intimate space, we will only have 10 spots available for this workshop.

Our first Rev.Media Club workshop on Saturday Sept 13 from 5-7pm (Pacific) at Scrap&Sip features guest activator, Brette Sims, an Oakland visual artist and founder of Stuk Designs- a creative resource hub for teaching the practices of self love and art, and how it fosters a sense of childlike wonder for people of all ages.  Brette shares the impact of spoken word poetry artists and the album of her birthday twin, Ms. Lauryn Hill, with the “Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” album that guided her revolutionary transformation for liberation. We’ll also have a “Gem Your Journal” integration activity for you to activate your creative expression through intentionally decorating your journal, sketchbook, spell book, or any notebook you use to express yourself creatively. We’ll provide some craft materials, with the option to also purchase unique supplies for decoration from the Scrap&Sip store and materials brought by the guest activators of this workshop.

Registration for this event ends by Friday Sept 12 at 11:59pm (Pacific).
